4. Is Marinakis a good owner? Based on his 1st season in the PL he’s obviously a massive gambler who is willing to put the future of a club in jeopardy. His gamble (some would call cheating by deliberately over spending) paid off. Forest stayed up so he’s classed as a good owner but a few less points and Forest would have been relegated with massive debts, probably gone into admin, another points deduction. Then you’d have Forest fans seeking sympathy telling everyone how Maranakis has destroyed their club and the EFL should keep his type (the big gamblers) out of football.

21. Multi-club ownership should be banned outright. Every positive it has can be done by a sole ownership structure. Sharing of intellectual properties might be helpful, but football is supposed to about rivalry, not synergy. It's a zero-sum game; only one team lifts the trophy. Imagine Arsenal and Spurs having the same ownership group, it would be a question of footballing integrity. So line has to be drawn from the start. Otherwise I find it akin to drawing an offside line only on half of the pitch.

    'Blind trust' is just another way to get around it. If teams of the same ownership group face off against each other in a final, who do they cheer for? It's nothing but a charity game for the private equity companies and wealthy individuals.
