Real Madrid are progressing in talks over signing Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold when his Liverpool deal expires at the end of June – and his preference is to join the LaLiga club.

With Alexander-Arnold’s current deal at Anfield due to expire this summer, the defender has not pursued the possibility of an improved contract with Liverpool. It is not yet certain he will leave Liverpool, if the ongoing negotiations in Spain fail to reach agreement.

If Real can land the Reds vice-captain it would end a 21-year association with his boyhood club for whom he is set to make his 350th appearance against Everton on April 2, live on Sky Sports.

Sky Sports News has been told that much is still to be sorted and there is no guarantee he will be a Real Madrid player next season.

  2. I've still got a feeling trento stays. I believe all this is just Madrid doing what they always do in trying to unsettle opposition players.
Dunno why but I have a a feeling vigil and salah leave for Madrid or barca

  3. Frustrated and angry. Just shows there's no loyalty anymore. Is £180,000 a week for a 26 year old not enough? And to let his so called boyhood club lose out on transfer money to atleast go towards replacing him is just selfish. And for talks with real Madrid to be happening now while he's still under contract is just pure disrespect.

  4. Liverpool management are rubbish
3 key players you should kept without any doubt
    Salah, van dirk and Arnold
Liverpool already lost champion league, carabao cup and nearly to lose premier league too, because the players are disappointed, we all can see that

  5. He isn't the most important player in terms of what he does on the pitch for Liverpool, however he is the heart & soul of our team, he grew up in the city where a million kids grew up wanting to do what he gets to do every single week, he's the embodiment of the spirit of the city itself & the supporters on the pitch, you may be able to replace him with another right back but you can't replace him in terms of the intangibles he brings to the table being a home grown player, football is an emotional, tribal sport at the end of the day, maybe I'm being a romantic but he should want to stay & finish his career with his boyhood club, it's just a shame he seemingly isn't viewing it through the same lens we view it through, it'd be an absolute travesty if he left, even more than it would be if Van Dijk or Salah left because they played for other clubs beforehand & we acknowledge there'll come a day where they won't be at the club anymore, Trent is before anything else a Liverpool fan, he's one of us, I don't understand why he would want to burn down his Liverpool legacy like this… I suppose it goes back to whether he wants to be like Gerrard or whether he sees himself more like David Beckham, the global brand superstar, Beckham being probably the most decorated English player of all time… One thing is for sure though, & I might sound like a desperate ex boyfriend here in what I'm about to say but it's true, Liverpool fans absolutely adore Trent, whilst he'd probably be a remarkable player at Real Madrid, I don't believe that Real Madrid fans could ever love him in the same way that we love him, if he does go to Real Madrid he'll never experience that love & adoration again, that's what he'd be turning his back on…
